New to Atlanta’s rising pizza scene is Timone’s with its New York-style pizzas. The pizzeria offers a unique beverage program with house-made Italian sodas —berry, cream, orange root and seasonal flavors available. Its starters menu features distinctive plates like Ricotta Toast with fennel jam and black pepper honey ($5). Timone’s offers 13 specialty pies (16-inch), along with rotating weekly specials. The broccoli and Capicola ham pie is topped with house made mozzarella, Calabrese chilies and lemon truffle oil ($18). The Springer Mountain Farms chicken confit features a roasted red pepper puree, artichokes and mozzarella ($19). Its New York-style pizza is offered by the slice or build-to-order.

Craft beer is big at Powder River with more than 30 microbrews and its exclusive Mug Club. The pizzeria offers a diverse menu of 14 specialty pizzas (14-inch), along with appetizers, hot sandwiches, burgers and broasted chicken and sides. Meaty fan favorite pizzas include the Claim Jumper and the Wyoming Cowpoke. The Claim Jumper is topped with hamburger, bacon, onion and cayenne pepper ($20.99). The Wyoming Cowpoke is loaded with pepperoni, Canadian bacon, hamburger, sausage and bacon ($21.99).

This Logan Square neighborhood eatery reserves its wood-fired pizza menu for its dinner service,opting for wood-fired bagels, sandwiches and salads during its earlier day parts. Much of its menu is made in-house using local, seasonal and organic ingredients. RENO has garnered national attention for its pizza offerings, like the Paulina and the Hog. The Paulina has a red sauce base and is topped with Paulina pepperoni, jalapeno, pesto and mozzarella ($12). The Hog features porkbelly carnitas, salsa verde, mozzarella, rajas and cotija cheese ($14).

Patrons create their own artwork on a giant graffiti wall at the downtown Fargo location of the three-unit Spicy Pie. The pizza company has a Spicy Challenge, an 18-inch, seven-topping pizza-eating contest. Winner gets on a “wall of fame” and receives a T-shirt and bragging rights. Grinders are also a big hit at Spicy Pie. The Ham Grinder is most popular with ham, Swiss American cheese, red sauce, white sauce and shredded lettuce. The pizzeria even bottles its grinder sauce for purchase.
