Spiral Out

By Jeffrey Freehof

Rotini presents perfect pasta opportunities

Rotini pasta might just be the world’s perfect pasta. Its corkscrew shape beautifully allows whatever sauce it’s tossed in to grab hold and nestle between the spirals. This pasta shape allows for the maximum amount of marinara, cheese sauce, Alfredo or cold dressing for optimal flavor.

Since weather is warming up and customers are looking for a great cold side dish to go with their meal or to bring to the party, let’s start with my favorite pasta salads:

Garden Rotini Pasta Salad

Tip: Be sure to display this in clear containers under refrigeration. If this is on display in front of the customer, it will practically sell itself. Make it available in pints and quarts for home or a party!

Gourmet Mac n’ Cheese

Mac and cheese is a favorite of just about everybody. Here’s a popular recipe that I’ve had tremendous success with! Try this small batch first and then adjust your volume.

This is an awesome recipe that’s really easy to make. You don’t even need to make a cream sauce first.

Shrimp pastas seem to sell well. Here’s a great entrée recipe I call:

Creamy Shrimp Rotini

For those of you who are paying close attention, you’ll notice that this is essentially an Alfredo sauce. So feel free to use this recipe or your own favorite to create this wonderful dish.

Spicy Chicken Giardino

Spicy Chicken Giardino

It’s time to spice things up a little bit while taking our rotini on a trip to the Mediterranean. Give this robust rotini dish a try. Once you have all your ingredients prepared and measured, this dish is pretty easy to put together.

Here’s a simple, but awesome, recipe that takes the concept of eggplant Parmesan and turns it on its head!
