Georgia-based Mellow Mushroom was forced to discontinue its beer club in all of its nearly two-dozen North Carolina locations for violating state alcohol sales rules.
The state’s Alcohol Beverage Control Board received complaints about the pizza chain’s program, according to WECT TV6. After an investigation, the board ruled that the beer club violated the ‘incentivized your guests to drink’ clause, according to the Triangle Business Journal.
According the Mellow Mushroom’s Web site, guests earn points towards rewards while exploring a wide selection of more that 100 beers. The pizza company has complied with the ruling, stopping the program in North Carolina.
