A New York server says she was fired for not covering a $96 tab left unpaid by three dine-and-dash customers, according to an article on Gothamist.com.
Suzanne Parrat claims Pig N Whistle Manager Eugene Wilson told her that she would have to cover the tab left unpaid –– or her co-workers would have to cover it for her.
Dine-and-dash has become an industry-wide problem, with awareness spreading via social media and blogs. (Customers have also gotten creative in their bids to avoid settling up, including this guy who faked seizures to get out of paying his restaurant checks in Baltimore.)
Parrat said she was ultimately fired from her job as a server, which she has held since August.
