Pizza Expo Keynotes Exemplify The Independent Spirit

By Pizza Expo

Keynote 1:

An Independent’s Independent

Gabriel Stulman
Pizza Expo 2017 Keynote Speaker and founder of NYC’s Happy Cooking Hospitality

Our Tuesday, March 28, keynote speaker at Pizza Expo doesn’t own a pizzeria, but if he had one he’d run it the same way he runs his five restaurants in New York City — as a neighborhood hangout that celebrates each individual customer and employee.

Those are goals every pizzeria owner shares, and Gabriel Stulman has nurtured five different concepts in Manhattan’s West Village with this philosophy. How does he do it in the ultra-competitive New York market?

He’ll talk about his passion for restaurants and for developing an atmosphere that connects with people at 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday. Catch the spirit and examine your own priorities as Pizza Expo springs to life inside the Exhibit Hall and in the seminar rooms.

Tuesday, March 28, 8:15 AM – 9:15 AM

Keynote 2:

The Pizzeria Reinvented

Michael Lastoria, founder, &pizza, Washington, D.C.

Sometimes it takes an outsider to see a new way of doing things. Our Wednesday, March 29, keynote speaker, Michael Lastoria, came to the pizza business with a background in marketing and branding. He’s been a principal in a business-image creation firm in New York and perfected a brand-first approach.

Lastoria took those tools to the development of &pizza, which has grown from a first Washington, D.C., store in 2012 to 20-plus units and received a recent injection of $25 million of growth capital to accelerate its growth.

Start your day at 8:15 a.m. and hear about the company’s quirky logo (which is tatooed on the bodies of more than 50 employees), its offbeat ideas about store locations and design, and its approach to investing each community it serves in mutual success.

Wednesday, March 29, 8:15 AM – 9:15 AM
