The Rock, Wood Fired Pizza & Spirits amps up expansion with first Colorado location
SEATTLE - (September 27, 2011) The Rock, Wood Fired Pizza & Spirits, an award-winning gourmet pizza restaurant with a gritty rock-and-roll vibe, is excited to announce its newest restaurant opening in Lakewood, Colo., on Monday, November 7, 2011. The new restaurant is the first installment of The Rock in Colorado, with plans to open three more locations in Colorado in the next year.
“We wanted to create a concept that rocked and there was no better combination than great pizza, brews and classic rock!” said Jay Gigandet, co-founder and CFO of The Rock. “We’re excited to give the Lakewood community a place to hang with friends, have dinner with family or celebrate after a big game.”
“Our passion for music blends well with the artistic vibe of the Lakewood area,” added Don Bellis, co-founder and president of The Rock. “We’re looking forward to becoming part of the community.”
The general contractor of the 6,000 square foot restaurant is Catamount Constructors, Inc. of Denver and the architect is David A. Clark of Auburn, Wash. The Rock’s new restaurant is the result of a new partnership with the H. Katz Capital Group, which invests in businesses at various stages of development and will apply their rich background of cultivating successful companies to expand The Rock nationwide, starting with the Lakewood restaurant. Founded by entrepreneur Harold Katz in 1996, the H. Katz Capital Group provides funding and acquisition by investing in leadership, management support and creative financial structuring. Through the partnership, The Rock plans to open 15 to 30 restaurants throughout the country by 2018.
The restaurant will be located in the Belmar area, a new downtown neighborhood in Lakewood that includes more than 60 stores and services, a bowling alley, a 16-screen movie theatre and restaurants. The neighborhood also features Urban Anatomy, an art project that focuses on attracting attention to details of the urban environment that often go overlooked, including manhole covers, sidewalk joints, catch basins and grates.
The Rock currently has 10 stores in Washington state and locations in Wood Village, Ore. and Red Deer, Alberta Canada.
