Pizza Today wins prestigious international awards

For the third consecutive year, Pizza Today has been honored with recognition from Trade Association Business Publications International. The TABBIE awards recognize editorial and design excellence, and this year Pizza Today won a total of three TABBIES — including the magazine’s first-ever gold medal finish.

Art Director Josh Keown brought home first place in the “Best Cover, Special Issue” category for the September edition of Pizza Today. Likewise, that same installment, which the magazine dubbed “The Style Issue” for its inside look at the many various styles of pizza being served in the U.S. today, finished fourth in the highly competitive “Single Best Issue” category. With roughly 500 entries from across the world in this category, this represents Pizza Today’s highest showing in the Single Best Issue competition to date. The magazine finished 25th in 2010 and 9th in 2011.

Finally, Managing Editor Mandy Detwiler earned a third-place finish in the “Focus/Profile Article” category for her Independent of the Year feature on Chicago’s Piece Pizzeria & Brewery.

“I could not possibly be more proud of our team and its achievements,” says Pizza Today editor-in-chief, Jeremy White. “To finish 4th out of 500 entries is pretty remarkable. It places us well within the top 1 percent of trade magazines worldwide. I’ll certainly take that!

“And for Josh and Mandy to earn individual medals of that magnitude is simply fantastic. No one in publishing deserves the recognition more. They spill excellence onto the pages of Pizza Today each and every month.”

 

Slice of Hope 2012 T-shirts Now Available

October 12 is just around the corner, uniting the industry for Slice of Hope 2012 to fight breast cancer. T-shirts are now available, with a fresh look for this year. Shirts are available in black and pink. In response to numerous requests, we are debuting the “women’s cut” pink shirts.

Pizza Today names 2012 Independent of the Year

The speculation starts to build immediately after International Pizza Expo each March: who will be the newest Independent Pizzeria of the Year?
