Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers opens in Southern Pines North Carolina

Atlanta, Georgia-based Mellow Mushroom opened its newest location in Southern Pines, North Carolina, yesterday. The restaurant is located in a 40-year-old building featuring characteristics of the structure, while incorporating a fresh design.

"We wanted to open up Mellow in Southern Pines for a few reasons," says co-owner Mark Dunahay. "We are absolutely passionate about the quality food of Mellow Mushroom. We are long time residents and our families go back generations within the Sandhill areas, and we wanted to take the opportunity to bring a business to the community.

"We are very excited to bring something different and exciting to Southern Pines, and in our opinion, nothing is better than the food and atmosphere of Mellow Mushroom," he continues.

What began as a local pizzeria in 1974 near Georgia Tech's campus has grown into a company with more than 100 locations in 15 states.

Tutta Bella Neapolitan Pizzeria named to Fortune Magazine's Inner City 100

Seattle, Washington-based Tutta Bella Neapolitan Pizzeria has earned a spot on the 2011 Inner City 100. The ranking recognizes the fastest growing urban businesses in America. The recipients were selected by Fortune magazine and the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC). Tutta Bella was the highest ranking restaurant at No. 43. More than 2,000 companies, such as Pandora Internet Radio and Angie's List, were nominated for the Inner City 100.

"We are excited to see Tutta Bella recognized as a catalyst for growth in Columbia City, which the U.S. Census Bureau has designated as one of the most diverse zip codes in the country," says founder Joe Fugere. "With 59 languages spoken in the 98118 area, we have worked hard to embrace that diversity and create a neighborhood living room — a place to gather, share stories, celebrate milestones and hang out with friends and family."

Fugere and other Inner City 100 business owners attended a two-day summit featuring seminars by two Harvard Business School professors, Deepak Malhotra and Linda Hill, and a gala awards dinner.

Since opening its Columbia City restaurant in 2004, Tutta Bella has grown to four Seattle locations with 180 employees and nearly $10 million in revenue.
