Featured wood fired pizzas include the Calabrian Torch with pizza sauce, Calabrian hot, banana and roasted red peppers, prosciutto di Parma, buffalo mozzarella and red pepper-infused olive oil ($15); Sausage and Goat with pizza sauce, Italian sausage, local goat cheese, buffalo mozzarella and olive oil ($14); and The Zoe with garlic sauce, prosciutto di parma, roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, local goat cheese, mozzarella, fresh basil and olive oil ($13). The restaurant recently added new items like fried garlic knots, beer battered mushrooms and a mozzarella panini.

A new pizzeria located adjacent to a Whole Foods Market, Avero focuses on old-world Italian techniques and fresh local ingredients. The restaurant serves hand-pulled mozzarella and organic buttermilk ricotta cheese and makes salads tableside. Its pizza rustica menu includes the Carne with hot and sweet sausage, nonna smashballs, pepperoni and mozzarella; the Gorgonzola with crumbled bacon, caramelized onions and fennel; and the Tartufo with mozzarella, romano cheese, black truffle and farmer’s egg. Avero also specializes in Italian donuts (bomboloni). On Sundays, the pizzeria offers its meals family style.

This restaurant is making a name for itself in Colorado. The small pizzeria grows fresh produce in planter boxes around its exterior. A mobile Basta unit is available for events with a menu of appetizers, sandwiches, salads, pastas, pizza, entrees, desserts and coffee service. Basta’s appetizers break the norm with oysters west coast (cold with mignonette or baked with uni butter and espelette — six for $13) and chicken liver mousse with aperol gelee, gherkin and citrus focaccia. Featured pizzas include the Cart-driver with sausage, rapini, mozzarella, fennel pollen and chilies ($15) and the White with ricotta, mozzarella, grana padano, garlic and basil ($14).
