We just put the finishing touches on the September issue, which was guest-edited by Brian Weavel of Anna’s Pizza & Pasta in Winnebago, IL. A lot of work went into the issue from Brian’s end. He spent time with me on the phone and over e-mail preparing for the issue before he ever set foot in the PT offices in July. While he was here for a week, he was given a super-fast crash course and then thrown to the wolves. He took an active role from the start and was asked to make key decisions on the spot.
While he was here Brian edited several pieces, filmed videos, served as the issue’s food stylist, gave art direction to our designers, selected photos and headlines … you name it. He wrote a couple of blog posts and began working on a recipe page as well as two food articles.
His work didn’t leave after he left our office, either. Back in Winnebago, in between running his pizzeria and coaching his two sons in baseball, Brian still had to keep in touch with me as he completed assignments for this issue. Finally, today, we can say “that’s a wrap!”
The entire crew here at PT really enjoyed working with Brian. We were inspired by his passion and impressed by his desire to really jump in and help his fellow operators. You won’t see the fruits of his labor for another couple of weeks — the issue goes to press tomorrow — buy I know you’ll enjoy his handiwork when you get the chance to check it out.
