Galbani treats pizzerias in Boston, NYC to tastings, photo ops

By Mandy Wolf Detwiler

To celebrate Italy’s upcoming appearance on the world’s biggest soccer stage, Galbani will hit the streets of Boston from June 4-6 and New York City from June 8-11 visiting more than 80 pizzerias and Italian restaurants with a specially designed truck, freestyle soccer performers, and food-service fanfare.

Galbani representatives will treat restaurant owners and employees to its authentically Italian cheese, which has been crafted in Italy for more than 130 years. Only recently has it been produced in the United States and made available to the American foodservice industry. In Italy, Galbani is so popular that it delivers cheese directly to restaurants in iconic branded trucks, and now Boston and New York pizzerias will get a taste of the same treatment.

“We are delighted to make this special delivery to many of the finest purveyors of pizza in Boston and New York City –– two cities with a rich Italian heritage just like our company,” says Jim Binner, director of national sales for Lactalis Culinary. “Galbani cheese helps restaurants offer their customers culinary experiences just as the Italians enjoy. Italy has a flavor all its own.”

At each stop, Galbani street teams will invite owners and employees to sample its legendary Fresh Mozzarella, Premium Mozzarella, and creamy Mascarpone. They’ll step inside the truck to don a soccer jersey and pose for a victory photo. Owners who are Galbani customers also can enter to win a trip for two to Italy. Freestyle soccer performers will keep passersby entertained and get them fired up to cheer on the Italian and American squads.

“With Galbani, I found that perfect balance where I could use it in many different applications and still get the textures and flavors that I want –– antipasto, salad, pizza, stuffed bread, rice balls,” says John Arena, founder and owner of award-winning Metro Pizza in Las Vegas. “Great yield.”

About Galbani
Galbani was founded in 1882 by Egidio Galbani, a man whose passion for crafting the finest Italian cheese available was widely recognized. His attention to detail was impeccable and the brand quickly became Italy’s favorite and most trusted cheese brand. Today, it is well on its way to becoming the preferred Italian cheese brand across Europe and the Americas. The Galbani brand is licensed by Egidio Galbani S.p.A. to its U.S. “cousin,” Lactalis American Group, Inc. (LAG). With headquarters in Buffalo, N.Y., LAG is owned by Parmalat Group, which is controlled by Groupe Lactalis, the largest dairy company in the world.
