Washington, D.C., September 2, 2016 – Pizzerias are celebrating the upcoming National Cheese Pizza Day on September 5th with the delivery of pies to local charities in communities around the country. Knowing that a slice of pizza can brighten anyone’s day, members of the American Pizza Community (APC) wanted to salute the commemorative holiday by serving up fresh, hot meals to the communities where many pizza operators call home.
APC member companies taking part in National Cheese Pizza Day celebrations with donations in local communities:
- Domino’s Pizza is donating to C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
- Papa John’s is serving pizza for lunch and dinner to veterans and their families at the Salvation Army in Louisville, Kentucky.
- Pizza Factory is donating pizza to the White Mountain S.A.F.E House in Show Low, Arizona.
- Pizza Hut is donating pizza to the Ronald McDonald Houses in Wichita, Kansas.
According to the pizza industry, 37 percent of all pizza orders include a cheese pizza and more than 3 billion pizzas are sold each year.
About The American Pizza Community
The American Pizza Community is a coalition of the nation’s large and small pizza companies, operators, franchisees, vendors, suppliers and other entities that make up the American pizza industry. The coalition was formed in 2010 to advocate for policies affecting pizza companies and operators including menu and labeling information, fair wages, work opportunity tax credit, background checks, tax policies and small business access to capital.
