Every September, Home Slice Pizza in Austin, Texas, partially shuts down for four days so 30 members of its staff can travel to New York City to eat at nearly a dozen pizzerias. According the Austin Chronicle, Home Slice staff has reported that the trip is informative, inspirational and fun.

Not only did owners Jen Strickland and Terri Hannifin provide such an enriching experience for their employees, they also brought along a journalist to document the journey. To check out the story, CLICK HERE.

Immersion trips can be so rewarding for operators and their employees. Pizza Today is no stranger to pizza tours. You name the pizza town and the Pizza Today team has been there. “I can remember having 16 slices in one day during a New York City tour,” Associate Editor Denise Greer says. “There’s no comparison to walking into a dozen pizzerias and experiencing their pizzas and operations firsthand. It’s pizza education at its finest; it is invigorating.”
