Just how big is Little Caesar’s Pizza, the Detroit-based chain known for its $5 quickie pies? It’s hard to say for sure — the privately held company refuses to release store count, sales and other financial data. That’s why we have historically had to use numbers from 2013 Directory of Chain Restaurant Operators research to arrive at our best guess. Nation’s Restaurant News has had the same struggles. But now they’re second guessing their data as well as the estimates of others and have arrived at a new conclusion: Little Caesar’s has leapt ahead of Papa John’s in terms of sales and unit count.
True or false? We don’t really know — Little Caesar’s won’t say. But it seems plausible given the chain’s recent growth (stores are seemingly popping up everywhere).
