It’s that time of year when major publications reveal their ‘best pizza’ lists. In fact, operators across the country await Pizza Today’s 2014 Hot 100 Independent Pizzerias list, which will be published in the October issue and go live on PizzaToday.com on October 1 and the Top 100 Pizza Companies on November 1.
The Daily Meal gathered a group of 78 pizza experts to choose 101 best pizzas in America from a selected field of more than 700. Pizza Today‘s own Man on the Street Scott Wiener was among the panelists.
Frank Pepe’s in New Haven, Connecticut has taken The Daily Meal’s top honor again this year. Di Fara (Brooklyn, New York), Pizzeria Bianco (Phoenix, Arizona), Roberta’s (Brooklyn, New York), Sally’s Apizza (New Haven, Connecticut), Pizzeria Mozza (Los Angeles, California), Flour + Water (San Francisco, California), Totonno’s (Brooklyn, New York), Paulie Gee’s (Brooklyn, New York) and Tony’s Pizza Napoletana (San Francisco, California) round out the top 10 in order.
New York City garnered the most ranked pizzas at 35. California followed with nine. Five Texan pizzerias, four Georgian pizzerias and three pizzerias in Washington, D.C. were among the 101 best pizzas list.
