Pizza Today’s very own Scott Wiener will appear on national television this weekend. Our “Man on the Street” columnist and owner of Scott’s Pizza Tours in New York City will be featured in a brief spot on CBS Sunday morning.
In June, news anchor Serena Altschul spent time with Wiener learning about delivery boxes and pizza in general. Wiener’s book, “Viva la Pizza!: The Art of the Pizza Box” caught the attention of Altschul, who worked for MTV and CNN before joining CBS Sunday Morning.
“She interviewed me about the book and was pretty interested in learning about pizza boxes and about pizza box collecting,” says Wiener. “We filmed it on June 11th and they’ve been holding it. It was scheduled to run a few times but then got bumped. They’ve finally decided Super Bowl Sunday was the ideal time to run a spot on pizza, I guess.”
During filming, CBS shot footage inside of Brooklyn’s J & V Pizzeria. There, Wiener and Altschul analyzed the anatomy of a pizza slice as well as pizza boxes.
“It was fun,” says Wiener. “We talked about where I have room to store all of these pizza boxes in a tiny New York apartment!”
CBS Sunday Morning, which has aired since 1979, runs from 9-10:30 a.m.
