CHICAGO, Nov. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Connie’s Pizza, one of Chicago’s oldest family-owned pizzerias, is teaming up with The Jesse Brown VA Medical Center to provide help to those who deserve and need it most. Connie’s will be delivering food to over 200 homeless veterans at the VA Medical Center this Veteran’s Day on Tuesday, November 11. Connie’s Pizza’s goal is to help raise awareness for the thousands of homeless veterans in and around Chicago, as well as for the aid that the organization contributes to this cause.
“Our support of the work of The Jesse Brown VA Medical Center doesn’t compare to what they do all year long for our vets. We consider it a privilege to be able to work with them,” said Connie’s President Mike Stolfe.
The food delivery will follow a ceremony put on by The Jesse Brown VA Medical Center. The ceremony begins at 1:30pm and includes a presentation by the organization’s director, Anne Brown, and a special feature on WWII veteran John Mason, who will be celebrating his 100(th) birthday this Veteran’s Day. Connie’s will then serve pizza, salad, dessert, and drinks. This event will take place in the Kizer Conference Room at 820 S. Damen Ave.
