Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers to open new Jacksonville, Florida, location

Mellow Mushroom Bakers will open in the Shoppes of Avondale in Jacksonville, Florida, on Monday, February 10th, at 3611 St. John’s Avenue, Jacksonville, Florida, 32205. This Mellow will offer a warm, welcoming ambiance which incorporates the history that occurred in this very spot. “We are thrilled to bring Mellow Mushroom to Avondale,” states owner John Valentino. “This is an ideal setting for our guests — families who enjoy a fun environment and unique experience, all while enjoying great food, shopping and entertainment.” Mellow Mushroom features a creative menu with an assortment of pizzas, hoagies, salads, calzones, appetizers, vegetarian and vegan options, using only the freshest of ingredients. Gluten free crust and a kids menu are also available. All Mellow Mushrooms are known as places that provide an entertaining experience in a unique art-filled environment, and this location carries on that tradition in a very special way. The flawlessly detailed contemporary retrofit of a portion of the previous building is speckled with vibrant splashes of color in the most unsuspected places. From one of our three entries, guests can go straight over to the beautiful bar for some cocktails or into the main dining area to munch. The roomful of warm woods, brick and contemporary jazz-inspired art becomes the ideal setting for the full sized 1940s open air LaFrance fire truck parked on the sidelines. This fire truck, found in its pristine original condition, was cleverly restyled not only to preserve its historic charm but also to incorporate a video control panel that entertains waiting guests. A second private party booth sits high on the ladder, and a quaint hose bed still hangs at the rear of the truck. In the primary dining and kitchen portion of the restaurant, guests can literally leave their first impressions on the wall, straight onto a custom built 3-dimensional pin toy in a stunning artistic form. The full service bar features over 60 craft beers and an extensive wine list. It pays homage to the midcentury gas station, which once sat on this very site. Sleek with dark, glazed bricks, and decorated with printed mirror murals and vintage advertising signs from top shelf liquor brands, this neighborhood hangout will surely be a hot spot for any occasion. The third portion of the restaurant anchors the intersection and provides an open air patio atmosphere, which can be used for private parties, local bands and weekend relaxation. For a great place to catch some sports action, this Mellow has plenty of options with a large HD projector for your viewing pleasure. If you’re looking for something unique throughout the week, then catch Trivia on Monday night or Bingo each and every Tuesday. Join us for the most unique and exciting experience for kids, where each Wednesday night is kids’ night.
