NEW YORK, Sept. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Slice Out Hunger is New York City’s Biggest Pizza Party! This annual charity event sells $1 pizza slices from NYC’s top pizzerias, many of which do not sell pizza by the slice. Difara, Lombardi’s, Keste, John’s Pizzeria, Arturo’s, Lucali, NY Pizza Suprema and dozens more are expected to donate a total of over 1,000 pizzas for this incredible event.
A portion of every dollar raised at Slice Out Hunger will be matched by Tumblr, Scott’s Pizza Tours, Joseph Campagna and Sons, Ferrarelle, GreenBox and Brewla Bars with 100 percent of proceeds benefitting Food Bank For New York City.
This year marks the sixth annual Slice Out Hunger event. Last year’s pizza party raised $20,000 in just over two hours, which funded 100,000 meals for New Yorkers who have trouble affording food.

“We’re currently experiencing a major trend of treating food as entertainment, we do that with pizza tours, but we’re also deeply aware that 2.6 million New Yorkers have difficulty affording food. Slice Out Hunger is our way of using the momentum of food obsession to do some good for people in our community,” says SOH founder and organizer Scott Wiener.
Slice Out Hunger 2014 is proud to announce WNYC as a media partner. Event sponsors include Tumblr, Scott’s Pizza Tours, Joseph Campagna and Sons (family-run restaurant distributor), Brewla Bars (brewed ice treats), Boylan Bottling (cane sugar soda), Ferrarelle (Italian water), GreenBox (eco-friendly pizza box) and The Bag Lady (dry goods).
