Kansas City, Mo (Jan. 21, 2015) – Small plates with big tastes, shrimp dishes, appetizers, a new dip, and more sizes of wine and beer have arrived on SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza’s newly expanded menu in its hometown market. All the dishes were created by SPIN! Pizza’s chef partner Michael Smith, a James Beard Award-winning chef who also was named 2014 Chef Innovator of the Year by the National Restaurant Association.
After months of development and tweaking until the flavors were perfetto, shrimp is being introduced to SPIN!’s menu in two dishes — Calabrian Shrimp Formaggi and Shrimp Scampi pizza. The Calabrian Shrimp Formaggi as well as the new Roasted Eggplant Parmigiana and Stuffed Mondo Pork Meatball are available as an appetizer, a side dish, or as a Mini Mia meal paired with a choice of salad or soup.
SPIN!’s lemon ricotta and olive oil dip served with warm flatbread also is a fresh addition to the menu. The dip replaces its artichoke and olive spread.
In addition to new dishes, SPIN! has added larger sizes of both craft draft beers and red, white and Chianti house wines by the glass. Along with a full carafe, SPIN! now offers 9 oz. wines served in an Italian glass jelly jar that guests can pour at their leisure for only $1 more than the 7 ounce size. Of course, SPIN! still will offer its homemade red, white and blood orange sangrias and popular rotating roster of premium bottled wines sold well below traditional restaurant prices.
SPIN!’s craft draft beers are now available in a 16 ounce serving and a new 22 ounce pour.
The wines and beers pair perfectly with SPIN!’s new delizioso dishes featured along with SPIN! favorites on a re-designed menu board.
Shrimp appears for the first time on SPIN!’s menu in two new dishes. On the Shrimp Scampi pizza, the tastes of garlic and the unique hot smooth Calabrian peppers reign. The roasted Calabrian shrimp pairs with fresh spinach, SPIN!’s blend of three cheeses, and fresh mozzarella atop a crust brushed with garlic olive oil glaze. For the Calabrian Shrimp Formaggi, the flavorful shrimp are nestled in a casserole with garlic, Calabrian peppers, and buttery crescenza cheese topped with the texture of crispy crouton breadcrumbs.
The gluten-free Roasted Eggplant Parmigiana’s thinly sliced eggplant is oven roasted and layered with SPIN!’s special combination of three cheeses, fresh mozzarella and fresh, made-from-scratch marinara. The eye-catching Stuffed Mondo Pork Meatball features a generously-sized moist meatball stuffed with creamy crescenza cheese resting in a bed of fresh marinara. Cutting into the meatball releases the hot cheese and melds the flavors for an amazing combination of savory delights.
In addition to a diverse selection of hand-spun, stone-fired pizzas, SPIN! serves an array of appetizers, soups, salads, signature Panini and Italian deli sandwiches, and gelato ice creams.
SPIN!’s homemade soups and made-from-scratch salad dressings as well as its pizza toppings and ingredients are prepared daily from fresh produce and meats.
SPIN! offers both traditional Pizza Rossa (red pizzas with crushed tomato sauce) and Pizza Bianca (white pizzas with roasted garlic olive oil glaze), and many hand-grated cheeses. SPIN!’s pizza dough is made fresh every day using several types of flour, and its gluten free crust is renowned for its flavor and texture.
SPIN!’s pioneering service style combines the convenience of traditional fast casual ordering in the restaurant’s lobby with an attentive full-service experience at the table. This particularly appeals to diners who want to control the speed of their meal without sacrificing service.
Rated number one by Zagat for Kansas City pizza and named best pizza by numerous local publications, SPIN! also has received national and regional awards. It was listed among the “Rest of the 101 Best Restaurants” in the nation by TheDailyMeal.com, one of the most heavily visited “foodie” websites in the country, its Margherita Pizza was crowned one of the nation’s best dishes of the year by a trade magazine, and its architecture won Best of Show at the Mid America Design Awards.
SPIN!’s new menu items will be tested in its hometown Greater Kansas City market before being added to the menus of its other locations. Founded in 2005, SPIN! has six locations in the Greater Kansas City area with three more under construction, four under construction in Dallas, and franchises in California, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
This is the second national concept created by SPIN! partners Gail and Richard Lozoff, Edwin Brownell, and Michael Kramer, who are experienced in large multi-unit expansion, franchising, and operations.
