KANSAS CITY, MO (May 15, 2014) –SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza, which has won numerous awards for its food and concept, has opened its third Southern California location in Huntington Beach. With recipes developed in collaboration with James Beard Award-winning Chef Michael Smith, who also was just named national Chef Innovator of the Year, SPIN!® is known for its exceptional, artisan food made from fresh ingredients and inviting atmosphere that appeals to all ages.
The 3,500 square-foot restaurant at 7511 Edinger Ave. is operated by SPIN!’s first franchisee, Hofman Hospitality Group (HHG), which also owns 18 Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que locations in California, Arizona and Nevada, and four Hof’s Hut restaurants in Southern California. Its first two SPIN! locations opened in Orange in May 2013 and Los Alamitos in January.
A second franchisee, Parker Hospitality Group, has an agreement to open five restaurants in 7 years in the San Francisco Bay Area’s San Mateo County with an option to open another five in Santa Clara County.
SPIN! has six locations in Missouri and Kansas with three more slated to open in those states.
Ranked number one by Zagat among pizza restaurants in its home market, SPIN! has been awarded “best pizza” by numerous Kansas City publications, and honored for the city’s best gluten-free menu. It was listed among the “Rest of the 101 Best Restaurants” in the nation by TheDailyMeal.com, its Margherita Pizza was crowned one of the nation’s best dishes of the year by a trade publication, and its architecture won Best of Show at the Mid America Design Awards.
This is the second national concept created by SPIN! partners Gail and Richard Lozoff, Edwin Brownell, and Michael Kramer, who are experienced in large multi-unit expansion, franchising, and operations.
In addition to a diverse selection of hand-spun, stone-fired traditional thin-and-bubbly crust, rustic whole wheat, and gluten-free pizzas, SPIN! serves an array of appetizers, soups, salads, signature Panini and Italian deli sandwiches, and gelato ice creams.
SPIN!’s homemade soups and salad dressings as well as its pizza toppings and ingredients are prepared daily from fresh produce and meats. SPIN! takes the unique step of roasting all toppings and ingredients in its stone hearth ovens each day, including mushrooms, caramelized onions, artichokes, and even capers, pecans, pineapple, pine nuts, and pancetta.
SPIN!’s pizza dough is made fresh every day using several types of flour including one specially imported from Italy, and its gluten free crust is renowned for its flavor and texture. SPIN! offers both traditional Pizza Rossa (red pizzas with crushed tomato sauce) and Pizza Bianca (white pizzas with roasted garlic olive oil glaze), and many hand-grated cheeses.
