Thanksgiving Provides Major Business Boost

By Jeremy White

Your dining room may be empty the day before Thanksgiving, but you’ll be flooded with delivery and carryout orders.

We are a mere five days removed from one of the single largest sales days of the entire year for pizzerias. The day before Thanksgiving provides a major business boost to operations nationwide as home cooks everywhere don their aprons and begin dressing their turkeys and preparing an assortment of other side dishes and baked goods.

With pumpkin pie in the oven, cranberry sauce and gravy simmering on the stovetop and the microwave in use to melt butter for the rich smorgasbord of good eats that awaits the family the next day, people simply don’t have time to cook the night before Thanksgiving. Nor do they have time to leave their kitchen to go dine out.

So they order pizza delivery. And, nearly a month after you enjoyed the Halloween boom, you’re now full-on into the busy holiday shopping season in which your sales explode to end the year.

‘Tis indeed a time to be thankful and merry. The day before Thanksgiving is followed by three other huge days on the horizon: New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day and Super Bowl Sunday are all coming in the next two-and-a-half months.

Get your staffing  and inventory levels ready and fire those ovens up. The phones are getting ready to ring.
