Slice of the 80’s Pizza

This 1980s-themed pizzeria knows how to tie nostalgia into its identity and branding, from its graffiti mural to 50-game arcade. Even its graphics-wrapped delivery vehicles scream retro. Customers can go traditional with the crust or pick from seven flavors, including nacho cheese, Cajun and honey. The specialty pizza menu features the Bacon Triple Cheeseburger (loaded with bacon, beef, mozzarella, cheddar and Parmesan). Slice of the 80’s version of a Hawaiian is the Tubular and a deluxe is called the Gnarly. Calzones, apps, salads, breads and bone-in and boneless wings finish out its menu.

Detroit Style Pizza Company

With the pizzeria’s local and national acclaim, Detroit Style Pizza Co. ships its pizza anywhere in the U.S. Owner Shawn Randazzo took home the International Pizza Challenge’s highest honor, Pizza Maker of the Year, in 2012. He highlights those champion pizzas on his menu. The first-place Tangy BBQ Chicken pizza has a brick and mozzarella blend, Applewood smoked bacon, red onions and garlic and topped with Cattleman’s Gold BBQ Sauce. The championship-winning Chicken Caesar is topped with a brick and mozzarella blend, chicken, red onions, Applewood smoked bacon, Caesar dressing and finished with romaine lettuce and grated Parmesan and Romano. Detroit Style’s menu also features thin and round crusts, gluten-free options, breadsticks, oven baked subs, pepperoni rolls, chicken wings, salads and desserts.

Jolly Pumpkin Pizzeria and Brewery

Jolly Pumpkin recently celebrated its first anniversary. This brewery’s pizza has received high marks in the Motor City. The Korean Shortrib features scallions, mozzarella, black sesame, arugula and a sesame soy vinaigrette. The Spinach & Artichoke is topped with a Parmesan cream, shaved garlic, smoked mozzarella, shaved red onion and lemon zest. The Fire and Smoke features smoked chicken, charred peppers, scallions, basil, smoked mozzarella and a chipotle tomato sauce. Jolly Pumpkin also offers the JP Burger with cambozola cheese, smoked bacon, cremini mushrooms and tomatoes on a challah roll.
