Mellow Mushroom to open in Louisville’s Highlands District

By Denise Greer

Handcrafted pizza, ever-changing craft beer and private dining options are just a few reasons to make your next stop at Mellow Mushroom Highland

Louisville, KY (February 5, 2015)– On Monday, February 9, Highlands residents will be able to enjoy fresh handcrafted pizza, craft beer and much more at the newest addition to the community, Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers, at 1023 Bardstown Rd. in the Highlands area of Louisville.

Mellow Mushroom’s mission is to provide delicious food in a fun and creative environment.

The owners of this location, Damon Coates and Jason Nase, are thrilled to be able to bring their second Mellow Mushroom to the Louisville community.

“Bardstown Road is a natural fit for a Mellow Mushroom. The bohemian feel of the area goes hand in hand with our concept. ” states owner, Damon Coates. He continues, “It’s an in-town area that has a wide demographic of people that will enjoy our eclectic atmosphere.”

Mellow Mushroom’s menu showcases natural flavors and the freshest of ingredients in a creative menu, featuring an assortment of pizzas, hoagies, salads, calzones and appetizers, as well as vegetarian and vegan options. A gluten free crust and a kids menu are also available.

When designing Mellow Mushroom Highlands the owners placed much emphasis on keeping the Mellow vibe with funky art throughout the restaurant. From the moment a guest enters the restaurant they are greeted by an old school psychedelic mural that sets the tone throughout.

Unique highlights of this Mellow include two full service bars with 50 ever changing draft beers on each level of this two story building, a private dining area that can accommodate 50 plus people and a second story outdoor patio that looks down onto Bardstown Rd.

With over 20 TVs conveniently placed throughout this Mellow, there is plenty of sports viewing pleasure to meet any fan favorite needs. Mellow Mushroom Highlands will also offer trivia, live music, and Mellow’s famous weekly Pint Nights where you can keep the custom pint glass the featured beer comes in.

Mellow Mushroom will operate 7 days a week, Sunday-Thursday from 11 am-12am and Friday and Saturday from 11am-2am.
