(ATLANTA, GA, DECEMBER 22, 2013) — The pinnacle of pizza will arrive in Atlanta in January 2014, as world-renowned Neapolitan Pizza Masters Roberto Caporuscio and Antonio Starita, are preparing to open Don Antonio by Starita in the Buckhead. The restaurant, a spin-off of the wildly popular New York City location, with an expansive menu of more than 60 traditional and creative, wood-ﬁred authentic Neapolitan pizzas, crafted from the ﬁnest ingredients, including house-made mozzarella.
Bona ﬁde pizza experts Caporuscio and Starita, co-chefs/owners of Don Antonio by Starita, are considered powerhouses in the industry. Since arriving in the United States in 1999, Caporuscio emerged as one of the most highly regarded Pizza Chefs in the country, putting Neapolitan pizza on the map of New York City in 2009 with his beloved restaurant Kesté Pizza and Vino. The pizza pro has been the subject of rave reviews from the media and pizza lovers alike, often demonstrating his craft at prominent culinary events throughout the country.
Caporuscio’s maestro, Antonio Starita, an icon in the pizza industry, is the third generation owner of one Naples’ oldest and most revered pizzerias, Pizzeria Starita a Materdei. Colossal crowds from locals, to the social elite and celebrity soccer players, ﬂock to Mr. Starita’s preeminent pizza spot in Naples, often waiting two hours to indulge in his artisanal delights. During his distinguished career, Starita has enjoyed many accolades, including his restaurant immortalized in the ﬁlm “L’Oro di Napoli”, in which Sophia Loren played a pizza maker, and called on by the Vatican to present Neapolitan pizza to the Pope.
Both Caporuscio and Starita are ranking members of the Association of Neapolitan Pizzaiuoli (Association of Neapolitan Pizza Makers – APN), the Italian governing body that teaches the art of Neapolitan pizza making, and certiﬁes quality and adherence to authentic procedures. Starita serves as global Vice President, while Caporuscio’s title is President of the United States division.
